The viscosity and maker approval your engine is filled with.
The approval code (API SP, ILSAC GF-6, VW 504 00, BMW Longlife-01) matters more than the brand. Viscosity and capacity are in the owner's manual — capacity changes with the engine, and sometimes with the model year.
Check before you buy: trims and mid-year changes can affect fit. Enter your VIN or registration at the retailer to confirm, and compare the OEM number on your old part.
#0W-20 5 qt
Meets API SP / ILSAC GF-6A. Honda specifies 0W-20 for both Civic engines (about 3.7 qt on the 1.5 turbo, about 4.4 qt on the 2.0). Toyota specifies 0W-20 for the Corolla 1.8 (about 4.4 qt). The Corolla 2.0 and hybrid want 0W-16.

Meets API SP / ILSAC GF-6B. Toyota specifies 0W-16 for the Corolla 2.0 and the 1.8 hybrid. If 0W-16 is unavailable, 0W-20 can fill one interval, then go back to 0W-16. The 2.0 holds about 4.9 qt with a filter.

Ford spec for the 5.0 Coyote and 3.3 Ti-VCT (WSS-M2C945-A on earlier trucks, WSS-M2C960-A1 later). The 2015–2017 5.0 holds about 7.7 qt; 2018–2020 holds about 8.8 qt. The 3.3 holds about 6 qt. The EcoBoost engines take 5W-30.

Ford spec for the 2.7 and 3.5 EcoBoost (WSS-M2C946-A / -B1). Both hold about 6 qt with a filter. The 2.7 uses oil filter FL-2062-A, not the FL-500S the other engines use.

BMW Longlife-01 oil for the F30 petrol engines (N20 and B48). The B47 diesel needs LL-04. A bottle that only says API SN is a different oil.
